Tips on using newsletters, blogs, emails, and social media to stay connected with patients

Having a consistent communication strategy using blogs, newsletters, emails, and social
media can help your dental office to stay connected with patients and helping build trust
and engagement.

5 tips for staying connected with patients and helping build trust and engagement

Here are five tips for staying connected with patients.

1. Update your website

Update your website with blogs that focus on important topics.

These can be dental health tips, different treatment options, or helpful oral hygiene tips. As well as timely topics for the season, maybe such as whitening for the holidays.

You can take this opportunity to answer patient questions, explain procedures, explain any inaccurate myths going around on the internet.

Make sure you have good visuals such as images and videos that make the post more engaging.

2. Send newsletters

Newsletters can highlight office updates. They can:

  • talk about new equipment that the office has.
  • introduce new staff
  • share updated office hours
  • You can have things that go along with the season.
  • talk about patient testimonials and patient success stories.
  • have educational content for maintaining good oral health.

3. Email connections

You can send personal messages that address the patient by name and you can tailor the content to their needs.

For example, if this person needs a cleaning or an implant, you may send information about that.

You can always offer promotional incentives to schedule, and while we don’t want to email too frequently, it is probably good to send communications on a consistent basis.

4. Text messages

Text messages are good for appointment reminders, as well as being used to remind patients of overdue appointments.

Texting can be used for promotional events, and the text can link back to a blog or a landing page on a website.

5. Social media

You can have posts on your Facebook that link back to blogs on your website.

You can also have images or videos on your Facebook page to try engaging with the followers.

Another useful option is running polls and questions and answers.

Plan the content in advance and then try to automate its delivery when possible.

Analyze your engagement to see what kind of response you’re getting, and encourage social media posts to be shared with others.
